Karen Anderson may be best known for her books and practical materials, such as the SIFTER, LIFE-R, and CHILD. She is the co-author of a number of books including Building Skills for School Success in the Fast-Paced Classroom and Steps to Assessment. Dr. Anderson has worked in clinical, public school and state-level (EHDI) settings and is Director of Supporting Success for Children with Hearing Loss. She has received national recognition awards in educational audiology, and speaks nationally and internationally. She develops free bimonthly Update newsletters that are distributed to 11,000 subscribers.
During this Virtual Meet Up, Dr. Anderson will address the implications of Unilateral and Mild Hearing Loss and provide tips and tools on how to communicate this impact to others on the IEP team.

The creator of the "Rule the School" products and blog will join The Online Itinerant to share how to promote self advocacy in today's schools.
Monica Faherty received an M.S. in Speech Pathology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA and an M.S. in Education of the Deaf from Central Institute for the Deaf, Washington University, St. Louis. Her forty years of experience have been as an SLP in Hearing-Impaired Programs in public schools, a school for the deaf, and private practices in Virginia and North Carolina. As a teacher of students with hearing loss, she developed a Parent-Infant Program, worked as a preschool teacher and currently is an itinerant teacher in Raleigh, NC. In 2012 she earned the Achievement for Best Practices in Teaching Spoken Language to Children who are Deaf/HH awarded by the North Carolina Consortium for Deaf/HH.

This special February Meet Up will feature time to connect 1-on-1 through virtual breakout rooms with other professionals in the field. Participants will connect with each other, share their favorite secrets to their success, problem solve special challenges, and re-energize from time together.
Stefanie founded The Online Itinerant in 2017 based on the need for added training and support for those who work with students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Stefanie has her BS in Deaf Education, K-12 and a M.Ed in Early Intervention. Her experience includes over 20 years in varying roles as an Interpreter, Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Education Specialist for Students Who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Bev Teeter has encompassed the formal education she received, the variety of rich professional roles and personal experiences gained while raising an individual who lives with Deafblindness thus creating an unique eclectic whole person approach to the field of Education. Her educational background includes a BS in Elementary and Special Education, Graduate level certification in both Early Childhood and Deaf Education, extensive training in supporting children with hearing loss in developing spoken language through listening. Bev has a special interest in addressing “behavior” by viewing it through a Sensory lens. Her current role is Consultant for Outreach Services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblind, with a focus on supporting students with hearing loss with the development of spoken language through listening.
This session will look at the demands placed on the sensory systems of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, possible correlations, and approaches to viewing behaviors through a sensory lens.

TJ DiGrazia is back! Captioning is no longer exclusive to the university setting. It is gaining popularity in high schools, middle schools, and has even been used in some elementary schools. In this Virtual Meet-Up, TJ will talk about the different types of captioning, their cost, technology needs, and how to open the door to this accessibility service for deaf and hard of hearing students K-12 students. Participants will leave with the knowledge needed to identify if their student is a candidate for captioning and have the tools to set up the service quickly and efficiently in the fall if needed.
TJ has many years experience in the CART/Captioning industry. He is on the front line overseeing operations the entire family of companies, including ACS, EduCAPTION, Closed Caption Productions, PostCAP and Home Team Captions. TJ will answer all your questions regarding captioning and help assist you in setting up a free trial if your student is a good candidate for this accessibility service.
