The Professional Academy is an online community and training portal for professionals who work with students with hearing loss.  It is not geared toward any specific communication mode or age group of children but looks at overall needs of this population of students.  It also looks at your overall needs to be able to support them well.

The Professional Academy offers everything you need to meet your training needs and connect with other professionals who work with deaf and hard of hearing students.  No subs!  No travel!  You have access to more than 40 trainings from the comfort of your own home, classroom, or even car!  There is even an app, allowing for easy downloading and listening while you drive.

A membership is typically 12 months long, starting from the date of your registration.

Included inside the Professional Academy GOLD is more than 40 on-demand trainings and master classes plus live monthly trainings.  We call these trainings Monthly Meetups.  These 75-minute trainings offer strong impact and allow you to connect directly with the presenter and your peers.  These live trainings help create community and interaction among members. 

Professional Academy GOLD members also have access to our Teaching Toolbox, with over 100 lessons, activities and resources in the areas of auditory training, language, self-advocacy, self-identity, transition, working memory and more.

Professional Academy members also are able to access the FRIEND Academy, our parent program, and provide free memberships to the FRIEND Academy for all the parents on your caseload. The FRIEND Academy provides trainings, resources, and connections with other parents.

In addition, you also have access to our exclusive Facebook group for members only.  This Facebook group offers insight, dialog, pop-up trainings, interviews with others and more!

You get access to all of this from the point of your registration for the next 12-months.  

The Professional Academy is geared towards teachers. interpreters, SLPs, Audiologists and school administrators while the FRIEND Academy is geared toward family members.  Many of the trainings overlap in both, however there are some exclusive trainings for the classroom and exclusive trainings for the home environment.  Both academies offer the same monthly meetups and both have the same toolbox.  Each academy has different power hours.  When a professional purchases the Professional Academy, they have the opportunity to gift all the families on their caseload the FRIEND Academy.  At that point, the sponsoring professional also has access to the family trainings.  This is a great way for teachers and families to partner together and identify which trainings meet the needs of individual students, allowing the full IEP team to come together and support each other. 

No!  Any person who works with children with hearing loss, ages birth through graduation, will benefit from what the Online Itinerant offers. The Professional Academy was created for Teachers of the Deaf, interpreters, SLPs, AuDs, administrators and anyone else who works with a child with hearing loss.

Yes!  A full year of monthly Meetups are included in your membership.  If you can't attend live, that's no problem, you'll have access to the recording afterward for no extra cost!

Yes!  The Online Itinerant offers certificates of completion for each training.  In addition, we are approved to provide credit for RID, ASHA,  AG Bell, CTLE, and ISBE as well as Graduate Credit from Minot University!

Yes!  And, um, well, no.....

We have many trainings available for single purchase, including our monthly meetups and many of our master classes.  However, many of our trainings are only available within the Academy.   This is because of limitations within our website to be able to offer individual products at our current pricepoint.  To keep our pricepoint so low (the cost of a single conference), we can only offer some of our trainings individually.

Memberships are created for single users.  Membership to the Professional Academy is like attending a conference but for a full year instead of for a day!  Just like you wouldn't sneak another person into a conference without them paying, we ask that you do not sneak others into the academy.
